1) You Really Don't Have The Time.

DIY movers will underestimate the amount of time it takes to handle all the aspects of moving. From getting the correct packaging, to doing the actual packing, boxing and wrapping, just setting up can take many hours and even many days! During the packing process, you may have emotional attachments to certain items and start to chat with other family member or friends, slowing down the process. The bottom line is that time is money and your time is valuable. How efficient can a person be that does is not a professional mover? Not at all.

2) Your Items Are Not Insured.

You might be the most careful person and ask your friends and family to be extra diligent when moving your valuable items, but accidents do happen. When you hire a professional mover, you can inquire about the insurance options that can give you the peace of mind. In some cases the items are more that just expensive, they might be priceless on a sentimental value. A professional mover is more experienced at handling awkward or heavy items. It's their job to move items without causing damage.

3) Bad Road Trip.

Regardless if it's a short move or a long haul, most people are not experienced driving large trucks. Maneuvering in tight spots, pulling up and parking are just some of the concerns. If the truck is not packed correctly, items can move and get damaged. When you factor in the cost of renting a truck, the fuel and everything else involved, what are you really saving?

4) Can You Do Me A Favor?

We might have the best of friends and really mice family members willing to help us move, but do you really want to put the people you care about through this? Besides the amount of time you may be asking them to spend on a weekend off, how about the other issues such as if they break something or value or worse, they get injured trying to move a heavy item the wrong way.

5) Potential Of Getting Injured.

Injuries can happen even without having an accident. The repetitive movement and putting strain on your back and body that it is not used to can also cause an injury. Even if you are in great shape, taking the wrong step or moving a handcart the wrong way can cause an accident and potential injury to yourself or others. Chiropractic visits or massage therapy or even the chance of an emergency room visits can get expensive. So how much are you really saving by moving yourself and is it worth the risk?
